The Hardy Perennials Group

The Hardy Perennials originated some 12 years ago when three male members, who had all retired, felt they would like to play senior tennis during the day.

The group became known as "The Hardy Perennials" and over the years numbers have steadily grown and on many Tuesday mornings there are four courts occupied, whilst others choose to take a coffee break between sets.

They play every Tuesday morning from 10am until approximately 1.30pm throughout the year. Winter weather does not daunt the H.P.'s and many of them appear to be dressed for the ski run, let alone tennis!

The H.P.'s Tuesday mornings have become almost an institution within the club so much so that many younger members join in the fun if they are on holiday etc.

A charge of £1 is made and this goes towards coffee, biscuits and tennis balls, with any profit from this subscription being used to provide two or three lunch time buffets during the year.

To enjoy a morning with the H.P.'s one does not have to be a senior member of the club so come along and join us - keep young, keep hitting the ball, and keep the feet moving!!

 Ladies Mornings

Our popular Ladies Mornings are run by Ivan Davies and take place every Wednesday morning.

Ladies Mornings start at 10.00 am and the ladies are normally on court by 10.15 doing a series of warm-up routines which develop into a full court practice session.

A short coaching session follows with the emphasis on one particular stroke or tactic, often games based .

The Ladies then pair off at approx 11.00 and play a few sets of doubles. If there are one or two ladies over, individual coaching is given until the pairings are changed at the end of the first set.

The session ends at approx 12.00 to 12.15 when tea and light refreshments are provided
